Free and Reduced Meals Update for the 2023-24 School Year

Dear Families,

The New Lebanon Central School District is pleased to announce that all students will be able to receive free meals during the 2023-2024 school year through the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP), a program established under “The Healthy, Hungry Free Kids Act of 2010.” CEP offers a non-pricing meal service option to schools and school districts that are eligible.

Every New Lebanon student will be able to receive a nutritious breakfast and lunch at school without any cost to your household, regardless of your income. Students benefiting from the free breakfast/lunch program through CEP will not require additional funds to be added to “My School Bucks.” However, individual student accounts will still be maintained, allowing parents/guardians to prepay for additional breakfast/lunch purchases, such as à la carte items including milk, ice cream, extra snacks, a second meal, and more.

We kindly request that families complete a Household Income Eligibility Form. While school meals are free, these forms assist the district in determining eligibility for additional state and federal program benefits, grants, and funding that your child(ren) may be eligible for. Please complete one form per household and return to your school.

I want to thank our Kitchen manager, Pat Metzler, for her hard work and determination through the CEP process. If you have any questions or require assistance, please contact Pat Metzler at pmetzler@newlebanoncsd.org or call 518-794-7600, extension 2, option 7.

Just a reminder the first day of the 23-24 school year is Wednesday, September 6th for all students in grades 1-12. Students in grade PK and K will begin school on Thursday, September 7th. More specific information will be sent to you soon from your child’s school offices and our transportation office by email and or regular mail. Enjoy the final weeks of summer.

Fondly,

Andrew Kourt
