NLCSD Announces Class of 2024 Valedictorian and Salutatorian

The New Lebanon Central School District is pleased to announce Gabriel Kalisz and Allison Slater as the Class of 24’ Valedictorian and Salutatorian. 

Gabriel ‘Gabe’ Kalisz-Valedictorian

Congratulations to Gabe Kalisz of Canaan, NY for being named New Lebanon CSD Class of 2024 Valedictorian. 

Gabe is graduating in June with an Advanced Regents Diploma with Honors and Annotations of Mastery in Math and Science. In the fall he will be attending Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY where he will be majoring in Electrical Engineering.

During his time at New Lebanon Jr./Sr. High School Gabe has taken a number of university-level courses including Spanish III, IV and V, US History, PreCalculus, English, Calculus and Physics, and has been on the high honor roll throughout his school career. 

He is the recipient of the RPI Medal Award, the Williams College Book Award, the University of Rochester Xerox Award, and the CASDA 38th Annual Capital Region Students and Teachers Who Make a Difference Award. 

Outside of his academic achievements, Gabe has contributed to creating a more positive school climate and culture. He is an active member of the Outspoken! student group and participated in the Improving Schools through Student Empowerment Seminar with students from Columbia, Rensselaer and Greene counties sponsored by Questar III BOCES. Additionally, he is a member of the Student Leadership Council, the senior band, and the 2-Year Delay Rock Band. As a member of the Travel Club, he went to Germany, Poland, Chez Republic, and Hungry during spring break. 

Gabe also competes for New Lebanon athletics, participating in cross country, track & field, and swim team.

 

Allison Slater-Salutatorian

Congratulations to Allison Slater from East Chatham, NY for being named New Lebanon CSD Class of 2024 Salutatorian. 

Allison is graduating in June with an Advanced Regents Diploma with Honors. In the fall she will be attending Roger Williams University in Bristol, RI where she will be majoring in Biomedical Engineering. 

During her time at New Lebanon Jr./Sr. High School Allison has taken a number of university-level courses including Spanish III, IV and V, US History, PreCalculus, English, Calculus and Physics, and has been on the high honor roll throughout her school career.

Allison transferred to New Lebanon CSD as a freshman and, despite facing challenges with out-of-state credits putting her behind in science, she excelled. In her junior year, she took both Chemistry and Physics simultaneously, showing her ability to handle a demanding course load as a senior.

Allison has proven herself a hardworking student, receiving the Academic Excellence awards in Algebra II, Global 10, Spanish III, and Earth Science. 

Outside of the classroom, she is a dedicated swimmer, participating in both Club and Varsity Swim teams and teaching children to swim over the summer. She also works as a lifeguard at Simon’s Rock in Great Barrington, MA. Allison plans to continue her swimming career at the collegiate level.
