New Lebanon CSD is excited to welcome Andrew Starks to the district. Learn more about our new special education teacher in his own words.
What is your education background?
I have a bachelor’s in math education from and a master’s degree in special education, both from SUNY Plattsburgh
What is your background like – previous jobs?
I have had many, many different jobs ranging from retail to food service and from construction to adventure based coordinating. Now I am doing my absolute favorite thing…TEACHING! Since I started teaching, I have worked for many schools, mostly alternative, from Lake Placid to NYC and all the way down to Jackson Mississippi. Now I am pleased to be a Tiger again!
Tell us about your family?
First, I want to give a shout out to my wife amazing Amanda Starks. We were married this last March. Our family consists of 2 dogs, 2 cats, 2 fish and whatever other animals may visit us each day in our back yard. Growing up, I was lucky enough to have both parents always there to support me. I lived with them and my younger sister until I went away to college at 18.
What are your interests outside of school?
Outside of school I love to fish all year round, from my canoeing in the summer to drilling holes on the hard water. I like to take our dogs for adventures hiking and exploring new places. I also enjoy reading and sometimes just relaxing with some television.
