New Lebanon Staff; Students to Explore Inclusivity, Equity and Diversity

New Lebanon CSD strives to create an environment where all students feel welcomed, accepted, respected and nurtured. To that end, we regularly seek ways to improve our practices to ensure this goal is met. Recently, along with work by our Inclusivity and Equity Committee, teachers and teaching assistants met with Ahmad Alghareeb from GLSEN to discuss ways to promote inclusivity and gender equity for our students.

Additionally, as a district, we are partnering with Common Thread Consultants. This organization will work with our faculty, staff and students with the goal of creating an inclusive, equitable and safe learning environment for all of our students. Together, we will discuss topics of race, diversity, forms of discrimination and equity. This too is connected to our goal of providing a safe and respectful culture at New Lebanon.

We are committed to working together to foster a school community that welcomes diversity, recognizing that it is our differences that bring us together. While we realize there is room for continuous improvement in this area, it is up to each of us to make the choice to promote the environment our students deserve.
