Meet New Senior Accountant Clerk Dallas Carr

Where are you from?

I’m from right here in New Lebanon! My grandparents lived in town, my mother and her siblings went to school in the district, and my brother and I were born and raised here.

What is your background like – previous jobs?

I have a background in hospitality. I was a supervisor of a resort front desk, and their night auditor. The audit gave me experience working towards maintaining the financial health of the organization. I was looking for a career change out of hospitality, so I went back to college looking for a degree that would help me get into the public sector. I graduated from Hudson Valley Community College with an associate’s degree in public administration. As I’m working full time, I am still pursuing my bachelor’s by going to school online full time. I am currently enrolled in SUNY Empire’s public affair’s program.

What are your interests outside of school?

My college courses take up a lot of my time when I’m not working. I currently play on my college’s esports team. This past summer I built a computer from scratch. I build mechanical keyboards, and I collect vinyl records.

Why are you excited to be a part of the New Lebanon Central School District?

It’s exciting to work within the community that I grew up in! I’ve always believed that small classroom sizes are the best environment for kids to learn. It’s great to be able to put my public administration and office work skillset to use for our school district. My grandfather worked for NLCSD for 34 years in the maintenance department. My connection to the community and the school makes it an honor to work here.
